On the beaches of the one time active fishing communities at Deal and the more remote Dungeness in Kent,
redundant fishing equipment and a variety of discarded objects can be found.
Some of these objects have become relics of the past, while others such as disused plastic chairs and
metal containers are more familiar. These objects create unexpected relationships within the wild and
natural landscape of shingle and plants.
Colour exists here in infinite variations; from sea and sky, sand and shingle, to the chromatic painted surfaces of a steel container, and the random weathered timber of a fragmented boat.
The still life paintings are made within a domestic setting, containing objects collected for their
aesthetic quality, ranging to those which have a more practical value within the house.
